I am an Independent designer and woodworker based in Durham, North Carolina.
My story starts back in middle school when I began making and selling wooden fingerboards. For the first time, I provided a fingerboard made using sustainable natural materials. I called my company Natural Fingerboards and had an international clientele.
If you are scratching your head thinking, “what are fingerboards?” You can take a look through my gallery to find out!
From the first time I stepped into the wood shop of Carolina Friends School, I knew I was hooked for life. I fell in love with making furniture and wooden items for the household. Throughout school I took wood-shop classes, and had the opportunity to take part in even larger projects.
In 2010, I expanded my skills in wood by learning to build my own steel string acoustic guitar with an experienced luthier, Ken Mitchell. The guitar I built subsequently won “best in show” at the North Carolina Designer Craftsman Guild in 2011. Since then, I have experimented in making other instruments such as a cigar box guitar, which uses a cigar box as it’s resonation chamber, and percussion instruments.
I have invested in state of the art tools to expand my home wood-working shop which is still constantly growing. I love to learn new techniques, and strive for unique perfection in each piece. I want to create pieces that are not only art, but are functional. My attention to detail and creative use of wood always gets noticed, Knick on wood!
